1983 Internationale Deutsche Rennsport Meisterschaft

1983 DRM - Rules DRM

For this championship we will be using the Virtual_LM GTPC mod for rFactor.
You will also need the => HSO REMOVE QUALY-TIRES PATCH <=

Car Selection

The field is divided in two classes featuring 16 different models of cars for a total of 28 available entries.

Group C (18 cars) : Porsche 956 (7 cars), Lancia LC2 (3 cars), Porsche CK5 (3 cars), Porsche 936C (2 cars), Zakspeed C1/8 (1 car), Sehcar SHS-C6 (1 car), EMKA C83 (1 car)

Group C Junior (10 cars) : Alba AR2 (2 cara), Harrier RX83C (1 car), Lola T616 (2 cars), Mazda 717C (1 car), URD C81 (1 car), De Cadenet (2 cars), Sthemo STHM01 (1 Car)

Car selection is free. However, admins can refuse a car to a given driver if he is judged too fast for it or if his simracing level is unknown.
The Porsche 956 is only for the slowest drivers

During the season, switching from one full-time drive to another is permissible -- but only under the following process:

1) Any full-time drive that goes vacant will be offered on the forum to full season drivers that want to change their car, on a first come-first serve basis. Admins still reserve the right to refuse a car to a driver who is deemed to fast for it.

2) Should the drive still remain vacant 24 hours later, it will be offered to the waiting list drivers in order of who has the most one off starts.

3) The drive made free by the full season driver who changes his ride will go through procedure 1)

For certain exceptional cases we can allow sharing a car between two drivers, i.e. they are free to arrange between themselves who drives at each event.

If a full-time driver declares himself/herself absent for a race, their car will be available for said race as a one-off drive. One-off drivers cannot switch from one car to another once they have made a selection. Drivers who already have a secure full-time drive are not allowed to jump into another full-time drive that happens to be absent at a race.

A full-season driver missing two races in a row without any explanation on the forum will have their car freed and made available for someone else. If a full-season driver is absent for three races in a row or five races in total, they will lose their drive, even if they declare their absence each time. For those on the waiting list who wanted to commit to full season and did not get a ride, we will count how many times they effectively appear to do a one off, which will score for preference towards getting a full time drive that becomes available (after said drive clears procedure 1 listed above).  The driver(s) with the most one off starts have 24 hours to claim a car from the time it is made available to them; if they say no or do not respond, the next driver(s) on the list have 24 hours to claim it, and so on.  If everyone on the waiting list declines the car by saying no or letting time expire, it will be open to anyone.  The waiting list is only for drivers who have no full-time drive, not for full-time drivers looking to switch cars.  Full time drives do not count as one off drives.

Championship Rules

The championship will be run over 6 meetings. Each meeting will feature a single race of 45 to 60 minutes depending on events.

The qualifying or Grand Prix engines upgrades will not be allowed, whether in practice, qualifying or race session. Drivers breaking this rule will be disqualified from the event.

Any driver who uses their incorrect car, for example a driver uses the Le mans version of their car instead of the WEC version they have been assigned will be disqualified.
If you are having trouble finding the correct car you should be using. Please PM myself or another moderator (Names in orange) before race night next Sunday.

Points System

The first 10 of each class will receive the following points : 20-15-12-10-8-6-4-3-2-1. All the starting cars will be classified and are eligible for points.

There will be one drivers’ championship combining the points from the two classes. All results will count at the end of the season (no dropped scores).

Event Schedule

All meetings will be held on Sunday nights (all times given as CET)

20:00 – Qualifying
20:50 – Warm-up and drivers’ briefing
21:00 – Race start

Race server password : hso83

Starts will be given flying, after one formation lap.

Race Start Procedure

--> Reconnaissance Laps <--

Once the reconnaissance laps procedure is over and everybody is on the grid, the green lights giving the start will be shown. This will however be the signal for the beginning of our formation lap, which drivers will cover at low speed (around 150 kph / 90 mph). Do not overtake, stay packed, no more than 2 or 3 car lengths between each car. Zigzaging to warm up your tires is not allowed.

After the last turn, cars will keep rolling at reduced speed in the starting grid formation, so remember your side of the grid.
When the leading car will be in sight of the start/finish line, an admin will give the real start of the race by typing "GREEN FLAG" in the chat.

Overtake before crossing the start/finish line is allowed.

Before the green flag, drivers should remain in a grid formation, as shown below :

1983 DRM - Rules GridOK

Training Server

A training server running on the next scheduled track will be online permanently. Password : hso83

Behaviour on track

A few behaviour rules :

- as for all HSO races, it is required you use your real name both in-game and on the forum. Thank you.

- Chatting is STRICTLY FORBIDDEN in race session. It is allowed in qualifying sessions for technical issues only.

- Drive Through : If a driver has to do a drive through, even if there is no pit lane speed limit, he has to drive through the pitlane at 100km/h max (60mph). If he doesn't respect this, he will get a 30s penalty at the end of the race.

- Shortcuts : If a driver gains a position after shortcutting a turn, he is required to give it back as soon as possible. In the case where a driver would not do it rapidly, a 30-second penalty will be added to his total race time. In the event of abusive and intentional shortcutting, severe sanctions will be applied (up to definitive a ban from the league). To make sure you never shortcut a turn, try to always keep two wheels on the track.

- Respect the red light at the end of the pitlane.

Application and Interpretation of the Regulations

The admins alone are qualified to solve any problems raised by the application and the interpretation of the present regulations.

Quite disappointed of the entry list to be honest. The Porsches and Lancias will be quickest by far, and you have ignored the cars in the mod that could contest with them, like the 4 litre DFL Ford C100/Zakspeed, or the IMSA Jaguars.

Well, I'm really glad that this mod gets further use though.

The entry list is the real life entry list as usual in HSO. Fast drivers will not be allowed to book 956, and there are some tracks like Avus where cars with powerful engine can do really well, like the CK5. drunken

I have to disagree. If so, the Zakspeed Ford C100's with 4 litre DFL's would be allowed (the Peer car has a 3,3 and so won't be competitive), as well as the Sehcar C6 (also with the 4 litre DFL).

Jacob does have a point. with my work on this mod physics, i have been looking to the race results of many races, and indeed those cars he mentioned appeared in some races of the 1983 DRM study

Perhaps so, but as Alberto said, fast drivers are not allowed the 956. So that will close the field up.

To be precise, they are the same car. Well, I guess.

One of them(LM) is how the car appeared at Le Mans, the other one is how it generally appeared for the remaining races of the World Endurance Championship(WEC). There might have been sponsor/driver changes.

No works entries for the Ford C100? As I recall them being white.

The 717C is a cute one Smile

No surprise though. Ford USA(Mike Kranefuss?) didn't think this through and left Ford Europe with the crap to clean up.

The C100 was driven by well-known drivers like Klaus Ludwig, but boy it was shite. IIRC, the vibrations of the car caused a lot of issues. Stuff came loose(cables, spark plugs?) and they had to keep stopping to fix it.

The Zakspeed team took over, and they actually won races with it in the '83 DRM season, now designated Zakspeed C1/8. It is in the mod, but not in this championship.  Sad

Hey, good thinking there Richard :top:

Would be strange if we left out the cars that actually took part that season Razz

Yeah Zakspeed indeed, but even if they won, they couldn't iron out all problems with the car. It was still meh.
