Hello to all

Hi,  My name is Joe Byanski. This is all very new to me,  but also looks very interesting and challenging. I am a definite rookie and could use any and all advice from thosse that wish to share. I am not sure how to go about partaking in the races or where to begin. Hopefully I can sort this all out and eventually lose my "rookie stripes.

Hi there Joe and welcome in the HSO world ! I'm sure we'll be able to help you find your way around. It would help to know how much of a rookie you are ? Totally new to simracing in general, or just to rFactor ? Do you have a the required hardware - decent PC + steering wheel ?

Welcome to HSO, Joe!  We were all rookies once, and you'll find this is a very welcoming community If you look in the HSO Championships section, you'll find the three series that are going on right now. See if anything there piques your interest. If there is an open spot in an entry list, you may want to give it a go.

Frank, I do have some minor experience with simracing. I have owned and used several racing software packages. I do have a steering wheel and pedal assembly. I also have a decent pc that I built myself. Now.....after saying all of that, I will say it has been some time since I have simraced. I am not familiar with the rFactor. I want to learn or practice all I can before I make a fool of myself. My interest in this site was the posting I saw on Facebook in regards to your upcoming release of the 1973 USAC car series.

Jason, You are spot on. I joined this group after seeing a Facebook post with the 1973 preview. That photo of Gordon Johncock is one I took in 1976. Thanks for the welcome comments!! Joe

Welcome here.

rFactor is pretty straight forward when it comes to installing add-on mods and tracks. Basically just dropping the folders in the right place. Everything you need for a series or a race is normally posted and linked to in the topic announcing the race or series. So pretty easy again.

Anyway, should anything be unclear, just ask on the forum and someone is bound to try and help.

And then... it's just shifting gears and turning the wheel.
