HSO Needs You !

Hi guys

We are looking to recruit a few helping hands regarding a couple of aspects of the league's life.

Webmaster

The first position we are looking to fill is the most crucial one - we are in dire need of a full-timish webmaster to help us re the HSO website. Created by our beloved Guillaume Siebert, this Mk2 version of the site has been online since January 2012. Being an engineer in informatics in real life, Gui has created a fabulous tool for us, but this awesomeness comes to the price of a rather complex code. Gui's awesomeness has unfortunately since then been spotted by some real life company , and he is now so busy that he absolutely doesn't have the slightest amount of free time to put into the care of his brainchild. So the person we are looking for is someone who would have to have some quite advanced skills in this area, namely be completely fluent in PHP, framework ZEND, MySQL, HTML, CSS and JQuery (whatever those are lol). The PHP knowledge is the most vital one on this list of acronyms, and I am told by Gui that anyone with PHP skills can easily learn the framework part if he does not already know it.

The HSO webmaster's task would mainly consist in some maintenance work, like taking care of the occasional glitch. Due to Gui's aforementioned awesomeness those glitches are quite rare indeed and most often are due to one of the admins doing something wrong   or because of an error in the rFactor generated files we use (namely the .xml exports). So the main thing here would be the webmaster's ability to make a swift diagnostic and point out to the other admins what went wrong and how to fix it. When those do happen, they almost always happen on race day, when we create the results page on the site. So availibity on race day, although not absolutely mandatory, would be a huge plus of course as for obvious reasons we'd rather not have to wait for several days for the webmaster to deal with the problem.

Also, provided he would have some time and energy to spare, the webmaster could help us add some new features to the site, whether it be one we have been thinking to add since a while now or some he could come up with that we had not thought of.

Needless to say we are unfortunately far from being even remotely close to being able to offer any kind of financial retribution for this work. The only salary our webmaster could hope for would be our ever lasting gratitude and the joy of being a pivotal member of the team in charge of HSO.

Screenshoters

One of the features of the site we barely use due to lack of time is the one that enables us to include screenshots on the race report page, as can be seen in this 1987 Supercup race. So if some of you are familiar with this excercise and would like to contribute, let us know. Ideally we're looking for one or more guys that could commit for a full season and deliver the screenshots in a timely fashion - there is obviously little point in having the said screenshots published 3 weeks after the race .

We would take care of the integration of the screenshots on the site, so all you would need to do is make some nice pics, name it with a short description of what it depicts (G.Ryon overtaking M.Brinson while P.Nadeau does the same on V.Alcocer.jpg for instance as can be seen in the Supercup link) and send it to us. If a few of you are interested we will create a dedicated sub-forum where this small team of HSO photographs could organise itself and split the workload more efficiently.

HSO Logo

As some of you might have noticed HSO doest not really have a logo. We've been fooling around with various ideas on occasion since we created the league, but here again lack of free time (and/or talent depending on whom we speak of ) prevented us from coming up with something that made the unanimity among admins. So if anyone wants to give it a try, please do . Our only requirement is that it would feature the traditionnal HSO colours of dark blue and orange and of course it should have a classic touch to it, not a modern looking one. Among the ideas we tried was something along the lines of the interwovened letters in the classic ACBC Lotus logo. But that's just a thought you know, we'll study any idea you guys could come up with .

Is there any way to move the camera freely in rFactor, a la CCM for Grand Prix Legends?

Yes indeed there is, it's the "Free Move" option. I had a good tutorial about it but I can't find it anymore. I'll post it if I find it again ^^

You didn't tell how much you are paying for the jobs.

With everybody seeing this kind of talk I don't know if you will get someone for the job, but if you do he will be a peculiar character for sure

I would be interested in joining the "screenshoters" group. I've never posted a screenshot in HSO, but in another community I was in charge of making post-race articles with screenshots and it was very well received, and I enjoyed it as well.  

Of course in this case the article part wouldn't be necessary, and obviously my english articles wouldn't be as accurate as my spanish ones, so I would just do the screenshots + description as you asked.
