Hmmm
I Don't think she does have the talent to win IMO, And perhaps she is there more because of who she is rather than what she has achieved. Look at some of the other Nationwide drivers who have been more successful but wasn't snapped up by a top team. (I'm assuming she's still with Tony Stewarts outfit?)
From what I've seen and heard, she seems a bit of a grumpy so and so and a drama queen.
But just my opinion.

The funny part is that this is a recycled story. Petty already weighed in on this a while ago. It just happened to come up again and the media salivated like Pavlov's dog.
Milka Duno actually said it best when she told her "You like show"
Danica is relevant because NASCAR is more about image than actual ability. Acknowledging that does not make one sexist, just someone who has 20/20 vision.

Yeah old story. Another old one on the same line is what Bobby Unser said about one of the first women at Indy. I don't think that either Bobby or Richard are sexist, they are just tough pure breed racers and they don't think those girls do have enough of what it takes. As Bobby put it "I respect any race driver that works his ass off and cuts it, no matter if man or woman, but being here just because of being a woman is not exactly doing a favour to the female kind" That's my feelings exactly

Sterling Moss said something similar about female F1 drivers. Lacking the mental capabilities to drive in F1.

In her 15 years or so of driving she has 1 win and in a season and a half of Cup racing she has 1 top 10. Facts speak for themselves really. As far as female drivers are concerned, only Simona de Silvestro has done anything of real worth since perhaps Desire Wilson and Lella Lombardi.

Crazy to hear that from Richard Petty who won zillion races just because he was the only guy in the field who had a factory car with 100 HP more than the rest of the field . And what about his son Kyle who was a no better driver than Danica, still was allowed to start hundreds of NASCAR races in top machinery... only to win a couple of races through shear luck

HERESY
don't touch the King
Yes he had a better car many times and in ovals that counts far more than on road courses, but on the many years where there were factory wars the opposition had equal machinery and drivers of the calibre of Pearson, Yarborough, Isaac, Tiny Lund, the Flocks, etc and Petty was still up there with them and winning a lot. I concede that were it not for the factory support in the lean years he would never have had 7 titles to his credit, but still he would easily be one of the most succesful drivers ever.
I don't think you can compare the opposition he had with ... Danica.
As for Kyle, well I pretty much agree

Yeh well most years Pearson, Lund and other top guys only ran the big bucks races, while Petty did the full schedule, which helped him win a few of his titles. But of course there's no denying he's a great stock-car racer, one of the greatest indeed. But then that would put him something like 600th in my all-time greatest drivers list I guess . Several women drivers I rate higher than Petty, Desiré Wilson or Michèle Mouton come to mind.

Janet Guthrie was a very decent racer imho. She came to pro racing rather late so maybe she could have acheived more with an earlier start. She didn't often have top cars too in Indy racing, plus I can't imagine how much pressure she had to endure from the fans, medias and racing community each time she tried to qualify for a race ! Lyn St James was good too. I have a soft spot for Lella Lombardi and Ellen Lohr, personnally . There were some excellent women racers in the old days too, Elizabeth Junek and Pat Moss for instance.

Danica can barely run in the top THIRTY. In a championship team, not in a start and park team, which are her opponents.
Maybe one day of extreme luck (or with big help from NASCAR) she can get a superspeedway victory, but that's it.
At the minute GoDaddy stops paying for her, she'll be gone (her luck is that even in back of the field, she still gets plenty of attention...).

I think Stewart and Danica took the joke too far. When you are fooling around with a guy who is 76 and a living legend of the sport, you must learn to let him have his say, shut up and walk away from it with a smile. What the hell will be proven if they push Petty into a car to race Danica? (Which won't happen BTW) Only that she has no respect for the grumpy old men. And old men have their right to be grumpy and say stupid things or whatever they like.
Can any of you guys imagine yourself talking this kind of shit to your own grandpa, no matter what nonesense he said? No you can't, you respect him and walk away with the smile. This girl is going to end looking like a real idiot, but considering that Stewart is leading the way it won't be too surprising anyway.

What sets Danica apart from all the others who "have no chance of winning" apart from her being a female woman of the opposite sex? And surely, even if you are a living (for the time being, anyway) legend and wear a cowboy hat, you can't say whatever you want?
