1965 Formula One Season by ChaosZero, Ozpata, Mgs_ita, SmallBlockHero (C.O.M.S.)
In loving memory of Enzo Anselmo Ferrari, Bruce Leslie McLaren and Ruud Dingemans
Imagine gripping a huge steering wheel with your hands, in a very slim and tight cockpit. Your only protections: a thin hemet, a pair of aviation goggles and your faithful light-blue racing suit. All around, cars shaped like cigars, on thin wheels, just as yours. Before you a long and narrow road strip, with old tarmac covering it. holes and bumps are everywhere and security isn't the top priority. Suddenly, the national flag is weaved by the started on the side of the road. Squealing tires, hissing brakes, gasoline all around you, high speeds in very little cars: these are times where men were the set-up and circuit were made to see their limits, sometimes at the highest price. Times of bravery, of great intuitions and failures.
Today, I'm proud to present to all of you our work: one which claimed 7 months of our lives to be made, in which real legends have put their effort in (for this, I thank the former F1 driver John Surtees and the former Ferrari chief engineer Mauro Forghieri).
Our work has been focused on the most realistic experience possible, to fully experience the bravery of the era: over 7 months of work, research, trial and error, coffee and testing. The mod you download here is a sum of all of this, plus the passion which made this work possible.
If I may add something, this mod has been a great occasion to work with great people: the hugely knowledged Ozpata, the greatly talented driver Chaoszero, the always handy (seriously, his 3D works are huge) Smallblockhero and the master himself, Slimjim. We worked almost like a clockwork: sure, we had our hiccups here and there, but work and commitment were never at risk.
The mod will be available to download at the end of the countdown, until then, you can check the really marvellous manual made by Ozpata: you'll need it to drive the cars at their best, trust me
Have fun!
EDIT: Sadly the trackpack will be available in a few days, Saturday or Sunday: there are problems with Monza and East London, but the tracks will be up in those two days . Sorry for the inconvenience.
EDIT 2: I know it's late but... I'm reading now of the death of Ruud "Raido" Dingemans, great friend of ours. We've had the honour to have him as beta-tester for afew months and his help was impressive, giving us great inputs in where to fix issues. So... I know it's late and all, but I've put in his photo to remember him. Again, sorry for being late.
EDIT 3: Trackpack is now available to download: just follow the Mega link and you'll see the new folder there
Patch 2 (v.1.02) (single file) https://mega.co.nz/#!PUp3nBgL!SUC-gjMRxtTlfYC8ruzY_AwYen5u5a8pulvdDO50XXw Before installing this patch, first go to Gamedata\Vehicles\F165 and delete all the folders inside it. Then, install the whole package in rF's main folder.
Haven't tried yet, but it's really well presented...

Downloaded it yesterday. Excellent, just excellent. Cars are clearly not identical. And there is a Ferrari driven by an American driver and he sucked. Talk about me being historically accurate
F1SR seems to be starting an 8 race season. Zolder is up 1st but a Zolder with some graphics updates.
Anyone know where to find their track pack?
Engines are fragile!!

Go and ask them! They usually only put the link up when the race topic opens up!
That also surprised me, they should include the links to the mods&tracks somewhere. I often see them saying "we're gonna do this and that for a little fun" but I couldn't see the links to the mods&tracks they were driving on.
Also the discussion about whether to use V1.03 or V1.04b...
Some guys should just man up.
I have issues with the '91 mod and I am STILL driving!

V4 is posted. I think they changed the weight shift with shock absorbers. Tires also heat up very slow.
The cars are very different from each other. I am in a Lotus for the F1SR league. It handles better than the Ferrari but seems to have less power. Great mod. Once i can control, the rear of the car 100% i should be able to match the best times posted so far.

I think the tyres are getting changed again as someone on F1SR pointed out that the changes were even "wronger" than before.

It takes 3 laps to get the tires even somewhat warm on V4 at Zolder. The cold tire laps are extremely difficult. Felt like someone put the steel belts on a steel belted tire on the outside!

Thanks for the update Robert. Zolder is very nice as it stands now so if that is an indication of the quality coming thank you very much in advance!

My F1SR livery as created by Jason White. The little Tiger is the 50's and 60's Mascot logo for Lousiana State University where I graduated in 1999...therefor #99. And it is red since it is a Ferrari of course.
New tire patch has made the mod far more driveable. I think you super drivers are going to eat this mod up. There is a pretty big spread from best to worst car. Lotus handles awesome but is a slower on straights. Ferraris handle twitchy but are brutally fast on the straights. Hondas are a bit of both worlds. Jason is a Honda man I think.

Is the v1.04 the latest version available?
I'm a little bit confused by all these patches

There have been a number of patches and the version we are using over at F1SR has a lot of custom skins we won't want to use. Let me make a few inquiries and see if we can get a version that is up to date without all the custom skins...
